Kapeng Barako Club--Samahan ng mga Bitter

Kapeng Barako Club Samahan ng mga Bitter is a Palanca award-winning play written and directed by Juan Ekis who previously won an award due to his viral play "Twenty Questions".

The play is basically about the types of people and the types of drink they love and how their personalities are reflected in their drinks. KBC unfolds the story of coffee-loving friends who don't believe in love but in reality, each one is dying to experience being loved.

There were 6 characters in the play. Joel who is a freelance artist and struggles to confess his love to Anna. Anna, an accounts executive and bestfriend of Joel. Masi, vocalist for a band and who has feelings for Eric. Eric who is a consulting firm manager who finds it hard to express his true feelings for Masi. Stef, a commercial model who just came back fro her studies in Russia. Marlowe, the coffee shop owner and a playwright. And Sunshine, the cheerful barista at Marlowe's cafe.

This is my first time to experience a kind of play wherein the actors are mixed with the audience and so I found it awesome. They throw their lines to each other as if everything is not scripted. So cool! I am looking forward to more performance like this in the Philippines because this is something new and unique.

KBC is the longest running show presented by Arts and Culture Asia which is a non-profit organization aimed at cultivating the crafts of thespians and honing their talents across different venues.

KBC is set to please coffee lovers once more starting this September 6, 2014 and that is their official show for the viewing public. Dok Tour will grade it 9 out of 10! :)

Some photos are grabbed from their FB Page SamahanNgMgaBitter.

Dok Tour- approved!
Cheers!~
