We cannot deny that our country is still facing difficulty
in the challenge and equity in access, to health care services and real-time
information for decision-making. With this, the Department of Science and
Technology, The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and the Department of
Health partnered to make use of electronic channels to service our fellow
countrymen even in the remotest corners of the country. They will call it Kalusugang Pangkalahatan (Universal Health
Care Program).

One of the major outputs of the joint DOH-DOST is the Philippine
Health Information Exchange (PHIE). I attended the press conference last July
26 at the SMX Convention Center regarding this PHIE. Really, it will be a great
help for the health services and program for the Filipinos because this will
ensure the accurate and timely health information be available at the point of
service. In order to implement this project, the Department of Science and
Technology through its Advances Science and Technology, will provide infrastructure
and security support for the DOH – PhilHealth Harmonized Data Warehouse
platform.
Aside from PHIE, the event also showcased two new reporting
systems to be available at the end of the year—Maternal, Child Health and
Nutrition System and eHATID projects respectively.
The Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition System is DOH developed
information intelligent system for mothers, pregnant, that supports the
enrolment of expectant mothers and their babies, records the maternal and child
health care services provided them, as well as monitor their progress.
The eHATID project is a software application available on android
( I don’t know yet for iOS ) that offers real-time access to health information
among LGUs and medical doctors which will integrate an electronic version of
PhilHealth’s Primary Care Benefit 1 (PCB1).
Aside from the Press Conference for eHealth Forum, there were also
exhibits of different industries around the country of their products. There
were exhibitors from the agriculture industry, technology, aviation and many
more.

The overall experience last July 26 was great as I was able to meet friends from the media and other respected personalities in different industries. Also, I learned many things from the exhibit. Seriously, one can learn a lot from this expo if you will really take advantage of it. Thanks to Wazzup Pilipinas for inviting me especially to Sir Ross! :)
Dok Tour-approved!
